While your kids are in school it’s essential to nurture their creativity both in and out of the classroom. And while it may be tempting to save the projects for school hours, it is equally important to keep kids creatively stimulated at home. Creative expression is critical to your child’s overall development and helps strengthen their imagination, confidence, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence.

Here are four ways to inspire creativity in your kids.

1. Make more art.

Encourage your child to explore a wide range of artistic activities — from painting and drawing to crafting and building. By providing opportunities for your child to experiment with art, you can help them discover their passions and individual talents.

2. Listen to more music.

Introduce your child to all different types of music. If music is something you personally enjoy, share it with your kids and explain why you love it. Prompt your kids to dance, sing, and perform even if it’s just at home for family. Music is an excellent tool for stimulating creativity, building confidence, and processing emotions.

3. Play more.

Interactive play is a great way to promote creativity in children. Incorporate play-based learning into your home life and encourage your kids to use their imagination. Whether you are building with blocks, playing dress-up, or constructing a fort, interactive play allows kids to think outside the box and improve their communication skills.

4. Ask more questions.

Curiosity and creativity go hand-in-hand. Kids are naturally inquisitive, so embrace that desire to learn by inspiring them to ask questions. When you don't know the answer, work together to find information and discover new possibilities. This will not only get their creative juices flowing but will teach them to love learning new things.

Remember, everyone has individual talents and interests, so find the activities that work best for your child. Once you find something that motivates your kid to use their imagination, make sure to build it into your routine so they can keep growing creatively!
