How To Make New Year’s Resolutions as a Family
Reading Time: 2 mins
As we inch closer to the end of the year and the beginning of the next, it's time to start planning goals for 2023. You may have decided on personal resolutions in the past, but why not include the whole family? At first, it might seem overwhelming to plan your goals together, but it doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, this can be a fun way for the whole family to get involved - making new memories for the coming year.
Here are three tips on how to make family resolutions an enjoyable and successful experience:
1. Brainstorm Together – Gather your family and brainstorm ideas for new activities or goals you can work towards throughout the year. Take turns sharing ideas until you have come up with at least five things you would like to do as a family this year. Write down each, so you don't forget any! One of the benefits of doing this is that it helps to keep everyone on track and motivated as your work toward the same goals. You may even have tips for your family members, which may help them to overcome potential obstacles.
2. Choose Wisely – Once you have your list of ideas, it is time to narrow it down by deciding which ones are most important to the entire family. First, ask yourself which activities will bring everyone together and benefit each member of your household, then prioritize those activities over the others.
3. Set Achievable Goals – When setting your goals for the upcoming year, select the ones the family agrees on and commit to working together as a team. This will help ensure everyone is motivated and excited about reaching these milestones together! In addition, set smaller, incremental goals that you can gradually work towards achieving. For example, if your goal is to spend more time reading, your first milestone could be to read one book a month or even every other month. If you're doing more than you were before, that's progress! Once you've achieved this, set the next target, and so on, until you've reached your final goal.
Making New Year's resolutions as a family can be an enjoyable way to bond and set goals for the upcoming year. It's important to keep things lighthearted, though; if something doesn't work out or isn't quite going according to plan, don't worry—laugh it off and move on to something else! Good luck setting achievable goals for 2023, and enjoy this time with your family this holiday season! Happy New Year!
