Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with Homemade Ice Cream!
Reading Time: 2 min
As the dog days of summer start to set in, there's nothing quite like a cold, refreshing scoop of ice cream to cool you down. However, store-bought ice cream can be expensive and is often loaded with artificial ingredients. Fortunately, making ice cream at home is easy and only requires a few simple ingredients.
Today we're sharing a family favorite no-churn recipe. The kids can help with the prep work, and everyone will enjoy the delicious results!
Here's what you need to get started:
Kitchen Utensils:
2 Mixing Bowls (preferably metal)
9x5 Loaf Pan
Whisk
Ingredients:
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Now let's make this together!
Instructions:
Chill the condensed milk, heavy cream, metal bowl, whisk, and a 9x5 loaf dish (chill for at least 15 minutes)
Remove chilled bowl and whisk from freezer
Whisk heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form
In another bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract
Gently fold together until mixed (at this time, you can add any mix-ins)
Pour mixture into chilled loaf dish and cover with plastic wrap
Freeze overnight (for soft-serve consistency, freeze for 3-4 hours)
